The word "fufu" comes from the Twi language, spoken in Ghana and Ivory Coast. It means "mash" or "mix." It's sometimes spelled foo-foo or fou-fou. It is an essential food in most part of west Africa. There are many versions of fufu, with each West African country featuring its own favourite recipe. The traditional recipe for fufu uses true yams, which are boiled and then pounded in a wooden mortar and pestle until they're smooth and sticky like dough.
Tropi-way fufu mix is made from mashed plantain, potato granules, cassava and vibrant spices: saffron and turmeric. This fufu mix can be used for thickening soups or gravy, as batter for frying meat or fish, and for making the popular dish, Fufu.
Suitable for Vegetarians/Vegans.
Use for thickening, gravy, soup, batter.
1. Make a paste in a saucepan by gradually adding
water to approx. 136g of fufu which is already precooked.
2. Place over medium heat and stir with a wooden spoon for about 4 minutes or until a smooth but thick consistancy is achieved.
3. For a thinner or thicker consistency, increase or reduce the quantity of water added.
Beef (Light ) Soup:
INGREDIENTS: Meat, fresh tomatoes,
onion, salt and ground red pepper.
. Cut meat into small pieces, wash them
and put them in a clean pot.
• Add chopped onions and tomatoes and a
little bit of pepper and salt.
• Add water to the level of the content in
the pot and cook for about fifteen
minutes, stirring regularly.
• Add more water and allow to cook till
meat is tender
HOW TO SERVE:
Serve with cooked Tropiway Plantain
FUFU Flour. You may simply put the
soup over the fufu and enjoy by
consuming small pieces at a time.
Store in a cool, dry place.
