Japanese curry was introduced to Japan from the British during the Meiji era of the 1800’s and has now become one of the most popular Japanese foods, a world away from the flavour of authentic Indian curry. Japanese curry has a slightly sweet, mild flavour and is often served with chicken or pork katsu.

Use for curry recipe.

Boil water in a pan.
• Add vegetables such as potato or carrot & meat
• Break up curry cubes and add 1 cube per person.
• Stir well and then serve.

Cooking Instructions: 10 Serving

Stirfry meat and vegetables.
Add 1440ml water and bring to a boil. Reduced heat and shimmer till meat is tender.
Break Roux into pieces.
Stir well and serve hot.

For a classic Japanese curry.

Chop vegetables – typically potato, carrot & onion – and your choice of meat or seafood into bite-sized chunks. In a deep saucepan, cook all of the ingredients in a little oil until the onions are lightly browned – approximately 3 minutes. Add enough water to cover and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan and cook over a low heat until the meat is tender – approximately 10 minutes. Then add the torokeu curry mix. The block breaks into cubes – use one cube of curry mix for each person. Stir until the curry cubes have completely dissolved then simmer for a further five minutes, stirring regularly. Serve with rice.

Store in a cool, dry place.
