Spice Paste for Indonesian Mee Goreng (Sambal Fried Noodles) 

Peppery seasoning for street-style mee goreng stir fries.

Packed with Indonesian staple sambal chilli paste, this instant sachet offers a handy serving of pungent flavour to mix into a mee goreng stir fry. Combining the best of East and Central Asian flavours, this paste builds layers of spice and savouriness into its juicy tomato base, adding shallots, soy sauce, chilli and shrimp into a deep red mixture that sizzles with umami goodness. Traditionally served with egg and chewy noodles for a springy texture, simply cook this paste with a stir-fried selection of seafood, meat and vegetables and finish with more tomatoes for a refreshingly, fiery dish.

• Heat oil in a frying pan on medium-high heat. Add seafood, meat and/or vegetables and stir fry for 2 minutes.
• Add choice of noodles and spice paste into the frying pan and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Push the contents to one side.
• Add 1-2 beaten eggs and cook them for 1 minute on the empty side of the pan. Break them up and stir them into the noodles before serving. Add optional tomato chunks and stir-fry for a further 1 minute.


Keep away from direct sunlight and store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, use immediately.


Indonesian Mee Goreng (Serves 3):

1 packet Indonesian Mee Goreng Spice Paste
3 tbsp vegetable oil
1 large onion, sliced
250g (1/2 lb) seafood
150g (5 oz) dried egg noodles or Hokkien Noodles (to soften the noodles, follow the pack instructions)
2 tomatoes, quartered
1-2 eggs (beaten)
Lettuces as garnish

Cooking Instructions:
1. Heat oil in non-stick wok or pan on medium-high heat. Add onion and seafood, stir-fry for 2 minutes
2. Add noodles and spice paste. Stir-fry for 2 minutes. Push mixture to one side of wok
3. Add eggs and cook for 1 minute and stir into noodles. Add tomatoes and stir-fry for another minute

Cooking Tips: Minced chicken, lamb or beef may be used instead of seafood. Dried rice noodles may be used instead of egg noodles or Hokkien noodles
